Our Story
Nyanyadzi Advisory Committee On Development (NACOD) is a non-profit organization comprising individuals originally from Nyanyadzi and those who voluntarily subscribe to the fundamental values of the organization and its commitment to serving Nyanyadzi residents. Nyanyadzi is a rural community area in Chimaninani District, Manicaland Province of Zimbabwe.
NACOD emanated from a quest to find home-grown solutions and expertise that could alleviate and improve the livelihoods of people living in Nyanyadzi. As a dry region relying mostly on subsistence irrigation-based agriculture, Nyanyadzi has some challenges that, given the right resources, could be overcome in order to sustainably improve the lives of the community.
What We Do
health
The health of Nyanyadzi is directly tied to the health of its people. Our aim is to assist with making sure that the clinic is equipped to be able to handle the various cases that are brought to it. From assiting with the mother’s clinic to ensure expecting mother’s receive timely medical attention to deliver their babies safely, to helping supply basic medical supplies, and to ensuring that the mortuary is working properly to accommodate the deceased.
education
Education is paramount to the development of any community. When we partner with schools and assist with various aspects of educating Nyanyadzi children, we are essentially investing in the brighter future of Nyanyadzi.

Helping to provide clean water to schools and communities: Our goal is to help to make clean water available close to communities to alleviate the need to walk long distances to reach it.

Connecting Nyanyadzi with outside resources and bringing about awareness of life beyond Nyanyadzi and what can be possible. Our aim is to use technology to bring about this awareness, for example by installing a community center with computers and internet access.

Our Mission & Approach
“The mission of NACOD is to significantly improve the well-being and quality of life of residents of Nyanyadzi by conducting developmental projects that support health, education, and infrastructure.
Our approach to tackling the issues of Nyanydzi is to collaborate with local Nyanyadzi leaders and representatives so as to gain insight into the challenges and problems being faced on the ground. NACOD members deliberate and decide on which issues to tackle based on the urgency of the need and its importance. We then partner with local NGOs who are already doing that type of work in the area, or assign someone to do the work. Our goal is always to create positive change.

A Letter from the Board
We are greatly honored to be serving as the Board of Directors of NACOD. The collective knowledge and expertise we have among our members expands different industries and countries across the globe. Many of our members have occupied positions of leadership and influence, while some have actively and faithfully executed the projects hands on in Nyanyadzi to bring the desired development of Nyanyadzi. With our combined talents, skills, and resources, we expect that will help to bring about the amazing growth we are expecting to experience.
The board of NACOD is an esteemed group of accomplished people passionate about community development, educational investment, health, and sanitation. The board is committed to function as a best-practice board, representing every sector of the varied needs of Nyanyadzi. So, much attention has so far been paid to setting up processes and systems supporting our organization so that we can function more effectively, efficiently, and with integrity.
It is both a privilege and an honor to be in a leadership role with NACOD as this role gives us an opportunity and makes it easier to share and combine our skills and ideas for the greater good of Nyanyadzi. We consider this to be a responsibility for all those who consider Nyanyadzi to be their kumusha (original home) — their heritage. Ideas conceived years ago are expected to gain momentum, as we increase the number of people in our membership with one single most important benefit to members – contributing to the growth, success, and well-being of Nyanyadzi, kumusha kwedu (our homeland).
In 2023, the NACOD board set our strategic direction for the near future by defining organizational objectives. We will amplify our nonprofit resources by not only increasing our membership, but also by partnering with other organizations for sponsorship and funding, which will enable us to embark on more innovative projects in Nyanyadzi. We aim to, as far as is necessary, collaborate and partner with other nonprofits, businesses, and donors to share knowledge and encourage unity and collective action. And we will expand our support of NACOD by promoting the voice of the local people on issues important to them.
Vince Lombardi taught that to be successful as an organization requires concerted effort. “The achievements of an organization are the results of the combined effort of each individual,” he wrote. NACOD has the remarkable wealth of opportunities embodied in the strengths of our executive board and members, and the distinctive purpose of the board is to get tangible results. We believe we have the vision of what is possible in Nyanyadzi, and what we are capable of achieving as a membership organization. Our goal as a board is to keep us loyal to that vision. Thank you for your part in our vision for NACOD, and we can’t wait to see what we will achieve together.
